I have a 2004 F250 6.0 4x4 that I cannot get any dash gauges to work although the dash lights work and the alternator is showing not working. I have replaced the alternator and tested it it works fine but when installed it reads no voltage to the truck. Can't figure it out
alternator reads 0 output when running at the back of the altenator
Which wire?
Oops, had to edit. Mis-read as an F150.... Disregard if you happened to see the incorrect information that was up for a couple of minutes...
Did you check fuse F45? It supplies both the cluster and the TOW/HAUL switch with power. A recurring problem on F-series was a chafed wiring harness at the entry to the column-mounted shift lever that causes that fuse to blow and takes out the cluster's electronics. As Jack mentioned - no cluster operation, no charging.
We are sorry to hear you are having issues. TooManyToys is right that the circuit for the alternator on those trucks does run through the instrument cluster, so if you have a faulty cluster then it could be causing issues with your alternator. We do offer a rebuild on those clusters which you can find at the following link: https://circuitboardmedics.com/2002-...luster-repair/ or feel free to give us a call at 800-547-2049. We can specifically test for the alternator issues before we do the repair to make sure we can replicate your problems. Please let us know if you have any other questions or if there is anything else we can help you with.
