Y'all know me, I'm prolly delusional, but is there anything that could make my gas mileage plummet? Truck seems to be running fine, just using a lot more fuel. I'm gonna go drill into my reciepts and confirm how much fuel I bought on this trip, but watching the gauge it sure seemed to be sucking my tank.
My understanding is you could be burning more (injector issue), have it leaking into the oil system, leaking into the coolant system, or have an external leak.
Any codes set? Could be a bunch of things. If not codes are set i would do some sensor cleaning and a tune up. New fuel/oil and air filters, clean the ebp sensor/tube, map sensor/tube, IAT2 sensor and the MAF sensor. Check the ficm voltage at cold start and see what the max boost you can acheive with stock tuning, it should be close to 28 psi. Last I would watch icp desired and icp actual and see if the hpo system can make what the pcm wants.
Years ago I killed every mosquito between the Texas state line and the Colorado state line on US 64 in New Mexico. Not to mention I degreased the underside of the truck and the 5er. Turns out the fuel line to the upper filter housing was loose. Probably the last Ford tech to work on it had wimpy arms. Luckily I had the correct wrench with me, tightend it up and I was on my way.
Check the fuel line connections.
