one vid is a little side to side slop on the passenger side of the D60 There is no ujoint slop or circular slop on the axle bearing. Just in and out. about a 1/4 of movement. Only happend to notice it. No noise or anything coming from it.
The next video is the reason I was under in the truck in the first place. I've noticed some squeekyness and the steering has been iffy from the get go. I can move all the tie rod ends by hand like in the video, and when I use the steering wheel and go from left to right they flip up to pull hard one way, and flip down to push the other. They don't feel sloppy in the joints themselves, just a ton of movement.
Although I was asking the question in the video, I'm pretty sure that the tie rod joints need to be replaced. Can I just replace the joints or do I need to buy new tie rods as well? It looks like some of the joints have a circlip on them but then when I look online to buy new stuff, they come with the tie rods as well. What's the deal with that?
It is an interesting thread but it would have gotten more attention in a different, more specialized forum. This is a specialized engine forum covering a four year production run that broke new ground in pickup truck performance. The guys who are really into 4x4 suspension can look at pictures of your suspension and tell you every little detail and refinement possible. I looked at your videos and would like to hear what they have to say about them.
It might add to it if you showed that movement when you turn the wheel back and forth.
I can’t play the videos on my phone but it sounds like to have a common tie rod roll problem. When I did the d60 conversion on my F250 I used all new Moog parts and still experienced the roll.
i replaced the rubber boot on the passenger side tie rod with a poly based washer and haven’t looked back. Do a little searching on tie rod roll. I can’t find the link to the part at the moment.
Damn it, of course I posted at the wrong area... I don't know why I would have thought only diesel owners would do this mod. SMH. Thanks so much for the response anyways guys. Maybe a moderator could move it for me. I'll get this forum figure it out eventually 😂
