Exhaust back pressure sensor issues--stalling

Anyone ever had their truck stall like it had no fuel due to a bad EBP sensor? Mine is reading 3 at idle! My fuel pressure is good, I have oil, it is been running great since installing E-fuel and a new high-pressure oil pump. This morning it stalled and then restarted but ran like it is running out of fuel. I am pretty sure it is the sensor because I have read that the PCM will defuel the truck if the sensor is bad, but I'm wondering if anybody else has experience in this.

I don't think the EBP sensor can defuel enough to cause an engine stall. I ran with a bad one for years and even left it disconnected for a while before I bought a new one. It should be reading the same as your barometer at idle unless your EBP Valve is restricting exhaust flow to aid in warm up. Replacing my EBP sensor did help in clearing up some of the black smoke during hard accelerations and helped a little on MPG.

Do you have a way to monitor ICP during start up?

When i got my truck mine was reading 15psi at idle (should be 0). It never stalled. Maybe your CPS? I carry two spares because one stranded me, and i carry a spare IDM beacause one stranded me haha.

I do and it's reading good pressure. I unplugged it and no dice.

That's odd. I read and was told today that is supposed to be 12 to 15 at idle and that if it's a zero that's not good.

Sorry I should have specified that's with my edge CTS 2 which subtracts 14.6psi atmospheric so it reports at psig and not psi. With auto enginuity hooked up it reads 14.6 to 14.7. I live at sea level. So mine was actually reading around 29psi by auto enginuity

The Edge subtracts atmospheric? Ah dammit. That means it's reading right then. It was reading at 3.

all parts are Motorcraft...CPS, ICP, IPR, HPOP all new. New pigtails too. Ran great Friday when I drove it for two hours. Not so much now obviously. FML...pretty over this ruck right now.

Don't give up Byron, is there a remote chance your E-fuel is the problem? Like a bad sensor or something cutting of the power to your fuel pump?

Its incredible, how I got a 6.doh memorized top to bottom but a 7.3 I forget, goes to show how unreliable those 6.doh's are when they are used in a company fleet.

Just saw this thread Byron. I concur, my EBP sensor was bad on the Mare and it didn't effect anything. Wish it was that easy seeing what you just said.

Yikes! Yeah I was VERY glad to hear I didn't need to pull the front cover. This truck has me wore out LOL

Another test is over fill the oil by two quarts and jack the azz end up a high as you can get it and pray you get the same results. This is one test you want it to fail cause if it runs then that means a cracked pickup tube.
