I've had 2 sets of backup lights on for a while. But, I also ordered the Headlight Revolution backup/reverse replacement bulbs. They've been sitting in a box for 7-8 months.
I was up late working on a tractor and it was nice and dark..... decided it was a good time to replace the reverse lights and take some test pics.
I am not a photographer...... but for reference...... all pics were taken from the same point standing on the passenger side of the rear bumper/tailgate, or, about even with the lights.. Also......... the sea container, covered boat, and disc/harrow are all about 50 behind and the lights.
The test is as follows:
1) Stock reverse bulbs
2) Replacement Headlight Revolution reverse led bulb
3) Headlight Revolution Reverse Bulb + flush mount
OK........ here's the stock backup/reverse lights:
OK.............. now the new Headlight Revolution backup/reverse LED light replacement:
OK ......... now the Headlight Revolution backup/reverse + the bumper flush mount Nilight LED Work Light 18w:
OK ......... now all 3.... Headlight Revolution backup/reverse replacement + flush bumper mount Nilight LED Work Light 18w + Kawell Dual Side Shooter Led Cube 45w:
And.......... here's what they look like:
For those wandering........
1 - Curt Adjustable 2 Ball Mount - 51/4" rise, 6" drop, 20,000 lb rating. Excellent rear Prius catcher.
2 - Hammerlocks hanging for safety chain hook up
3 - The quick connect right of the license plate has 145 lbs of on board air ready.
4 - Yes...... I am the hack that installed the flush mount lights in the bumper. Should have been more careful. Oh well...........
In summary,
45w is greater than 18w ...... The side shooters are killer. I should have taken a picture of them by themselves.
Looks good, and better yet functions even better. As of today, our Alaskan summer days will start to get shorter. I still have some time to get my lighting sorted out prior to the onset of winter & darkness.
With the stock reverse light........ you see one tree (just left of boat)
With the replacement Headlight Revolution reverse light...... you barely see the 2nd tree, you see much more of the side of the container and the disc harrow is much more visible. Definitely an improvement.
Adding the 18w flush mount light.......... you can now tell there are 3 trees and it definitely adds some light to the objects.
Adding the 45w side shoots .......... turns night time into daylight. Clearly see all 3 trees and even more light is added to the objects. Almost produces a glare/overexposure on the front of the container.
That is some serious light! Can you control them all independently or is it triggered with the reverse wire? Also, did you start off with the stock LED reverse lights or the Halogens? To me the stock LED reverse lights are the best stock lighting I have come across.

Sorry.... Great question??? I do not have Led package. I agree..... Started with stock halogen........ I agree, they are better than most. You should notice the change in light color going to the Headlight Revolution LED..... Much whiter (look at the gravel) with the LED reverse light..
The flush mounts on bumper and the side shooters are independent on upfitters #1 and #2. I did not want them tied to reverse lights.

QUOTE=jakematic;18050518]That was what I was thinking about too.... especially since the fins point toward the front of the truck and would fill with clay here in 10 seconds.
Also with a replacement bumper, most of the brackets won't attach where they would on the factory bumper.[/QUOTE]
Like this ..........
I had problems with gravel/debris tearing up some unprotected trailer lights.
I made some shields/protectors that bolt on with the light out of Lexan purchased at Lowes. Works great. I made the slightly larger than the lights and they had disproportionately down/lower than the light. They work great, transparent and virtually indestructible ..... sorta.
Here. I decided to use existing structure as a shield/guard.
Very nice thanks for your write up. I was considering the HR replacements but think I might pass. It does put out more light than OEM but as you've shown us here you can do a lot better for far less than $90
