2002 7.3 injector cups?

Currently having some issues with my 2002 7.3 with around 250k miles on it. I noticed a couple days ago I had a dark film in my coolent tank. At first I was thinking oil but it smells pretty strong of diesel. From what I have read that is pretty common with fuel leaking through the injectorcups. Only thing though is from what I have read, that is common with the coolent boiling over and overheating problems, which I have had neither of. Just replaced pretty much all cooling systemlast year.
Tried to start the truck this morning and it will crank and seems like it wants to start but won’t turn over. Starter, alternator, and batteries are all new and good. Also, it gave off a lot of white smoke as if it was a cold start but it is the middle of summer here. White smoke kind of makes me think head gasket but not totally sure. Anyone have any other ideas or know what else I should look at before I dive into it? Thanks a bunch.

Mine has either oil or fuel in the coolant too. I couldn't tell so I put UV dye in the oil and was sure it was oil in the coolant, then figured out that with green coolant it's hard to tell for sure if the green glow is the dye or the coolant so I put in red coolant. I should know this evening when I re-check it.

Your white smoke could be bad glow plugs and/or weak injection. A healthy system will start without glow plugs on a warm day, but if other things are weak then the plugs become more important.

And your statement of "won't turn over": Turning over is what it's doing when it's cranking, won't start is your problem. Semantics, and you made it easy to tell what you meant, but it can be important in some cases where it's not easy to tell what the person actually means.

Head gaskets almost never fail on a 7.3L... seriously. Cup failure is way more common - and much easier to fix than head gaskets. I drain my coolant, pop the injectors out, and air-test the coolant system with 14 PSI of air. I spray the cups with silicone spray to watch for bubbles.

That part is really important, just wanted to make sure it got noticed.

Thanks for the help. Does anyone though if the injector cup problem would cause the truck not to start? Only thing that still has me a little confused.
