I purchased my 66 F100 without the park break hooked up, which leaves me having to park only in level spots. Sometimes it's harder than you'd think to find parking on flat ground lol.
Anyhow, has anyone got a photo of the cable attached to the inside of the rear break drums? I found a few pics on google but wasn't absolutely certain that they were what I needed for reference.
In this case brakes - not breaks - hopefully your brakes don't break once you fix them. Lol.
Is yours an F100 or F250? There were a few different brake setups, but they mostly operated the same as far as the parking brake goes.
The end of the parking brake cable is inserted into arm 2A637/2A638 - it is extension spring loaded to keep the pressure off of the brakes when released and then when you pull the handle inside the cab it compresses this spring inside of the drums on the end of the cable and pulls the arm to activate the brakes.
Here's the ends of the cables not installed. I wind the springs myself to replace broken originals - these are some I did a while back for another FTE member.
@TA455HO Yes, brakes... I always do that lol. Thanks for the info and pictures. I now see why it wasn't evident when I did the brakes arm 2A637/2A638 is missing).
Here's the drawing from the master parts catalog showing the arm 2A637/2A638. In this case there is also a link 2A642 that goes from the parking lever to the primary shoe and a spring 2A601.
