Drum Brakes

I have recently replaced the drum shoes and adjusting hardware so everything is brand new. But in the rear driver drum brake the metal cable guide that fits in the hole on the shoe seems to always fall out and i have redo that drum brake.
Is there something im missing, i know the spring is supposed to hold it in, almost positive i have everything set up right but maybe there is some minor detail im doing wrong.

thanks

Are you referring to the parking brake lever?
There's a clip that holds it in.

No.. It's the metal half moon looking cable guide that runs down and hooks to the adjusting lever

Ah yes, that think is a pain. I did all my brakes last summer and I remember struggling with that. I have to keep the cable taut on it to hold it in place as I assembled.
Keep at it.

Welcome to FTE

Can you take a picture? Everything has to be setup just right, with the correct parts. If it's just falling off then something isn't right.

Good deal. Everything will be tight as a drum when done up right, often people have difficulty getting everything hooked up, without springs and parts flying around the garage.

If you are talking about this.

End tabs are bent towards each other with a pair pliers to hold it in place.

Only thing from here really the star adjuster link looks to be closed up as far as it will go. It kind of helps to open it up until the drum goes back on. Thanks for the photo.

The end of the spring that goes through the hole in the cable guide should hold that puppy on there. At least, it has always worked that way for me. Check the part of the spring that goes through the hole. It should be U shaped and require a little "finagling" to get it in the hole and then pointed in the right direction. If the U is straightened out or part of it is broken off, you'll need to get a new spring to make it work correctly.
