Trailer brake fault
Hi, I have a 2008 F250 and sent my trailer brake controller out for repair after getting “trailer brake fault “ error message. Replaced module but still have error message😒 Any help you can be will be much appreciated.

Alan, first, welcome to the forum! Many times, the problem lies in the trailer brake wiring, not the controller. If you can, hook on to a known good trailer with brakes, and take it for a ride to see if the problem persists. Otherwise, some diagnostic time needs to be spent looking at all the connections on your trailer brakes, including the 7-way connector on the bumper of your truck too.

You didn’t say what trailer you were towing but if it has wiring inside the axles like most RV trailers check the wiring inside the axles. More than once I have found a wire inside one of the axles that the insulation had worn off in one place. I once had a wire inside the axle that only acted up periodically, if you were on bumpy road then it shorted out but otherwise was OK. Good luck.
