Won't shift out of first?

Anybody ever had this? Second time it's done it but months apart. Pull out from a stop sign and engine goes to redline. Slow down and stop, shifts fine and no further issues. Both times I had tow/haul engaged with and "empty" truck probably sits about 93-9400#. A few weeks after the first time the rear axle speed sensor went bad and I had hoped it was all related, but looks like it isn't. Leaving for a 600+ mile trip with the camper Sunday and its got me a bit on edge now. 2013 with 34k on it..............No codes stores that the CTS Insight can pull up. Any ideas?

Maybe a very slight grade Bruce. Both cases was immediately after a right turn onto a rough road. One just a terrible transition and the other was milled. Guess I'll try just keeping it locked out of 5th and not using tow/haul on the backroads. I prefer the engine braking and shift points with tow haul but oh well.

have you checked the TCCM and TCM. Maybe one of the connectors is dirty.

I live on a small hill. A few times over my years of ownership, my truck has done this as I almost idle out the drive and down the small hill. Reach the bottom of the hill stop sign and all is fine from this point forward. Just did it the other day is the only reason that I remember. I put it down to my futzing with seat belts and the radio while idling down the hill. Seems like my truck is trying to maintain my near idle speed. Maybe not the same issue but something that I thought of.
