window removal

Working on my 49 f1 and I cracked the drivers side window. Ordered a new one actually two just in case. Anyone willing to enlighten me on the correct procedure of removing the glass ? I only have two chances or else I'm reordering. That's how you get experience right ? Thanks !

I replaced the felts around and under the window on my 49 F1. I found you have take the regulator and divider bar out. There is a top screw at the top of divider bar to take out. Take your time and it will go. Hope this helped

I have the new glass from lmc so it is the original style. I noticed the window when rolled down comes off the track slightly so maybe adjusted is needed before replacing the glass. If there is adjustment, I guess I'll find out. The bar for the door handle seems to be bent and I cannot lock the drivers door . Which is my next project putting in a lock on the passenger side, the hole is there with a plug so I assume this will be possible. Good thing I have it in the garage , I have a feeling this is going to take awhile !

gogoat, by divider bar you mean what ? I do not see anything called that.in the catalogs. Are you referring to the horizontal bar that holds the window ?

Yes, that is known as the division bar. I think you need to buy the shop manual. You'll find how to do all sorts of things.

Yella, I agree with Abe you could find a lot of learning material in the factory shop manual. There's a repair procedure for just about every part of your truck in there. It's available in paper and CD formats. Here's a link to one of many available sellers.

As a point of clarification, the division bar is the vertical divider between the vent window and the door glass in the window opening of the door.. The horizontal part I believe you referred to is the lift channel at the bottom of the glass, which attaches to the regulator.

Uh oh. I made a dumb mistake. He said horizontal and I'm thinking vertical. Sorry....

I will look into that shop manual however my 49 is not stock so most of it will not pertain to my truck. Short of the body everything else has been updated power steering ,disc brakes, 5.0 etc.
