i am starting a full restoration on my 2000 f350 crew cab and the cab needs to be lifted off. I have a hoist over where the truck is sitting, what do you guys have for ideas on how to rig the cab so i can lift it off?
What exactly is your question? If you have a hoist, simply set the arms up at the four corners of the body and raise it up after you have disconnected everything.

A hoist isn't the same thing as a two post lift with arms. Presumably, he has a single attachment point above the cab to winch it up, like a gantry system.

.....and perhaps some further clarification by the OP regarding the type of equipment he is working with, along with a more detailed description of the vehicle application will enable us to better assist with his request.
I have a hoist, not a 2 post car lift to remove that cab. A hoist is a device that could also be called a chainfall (mine are air)
if i had a 2 post car lift that was open i would lift it off from the rockers but its not available.
so once again, lets explore my options with a hoist or chainfall. I was thinking of lifting it through the roof as shown above but was worried it might distort something. I can use one chainfall/hoist on the rad saddle section and the second on the back through the door openings. Has anyone tried this with a super duty crew cab?
with regard to the post about using bottle jacks, would the 4x4s or whatever i used go from rocker to rocker?
The new cab was loaded onto my trailer with a fork lift and i need to rig it somehow to get it off the trailer also.
When I picked up a new cab for my 04 I built a dolly using 2 pallets and attached casters to it. By using my engine hoist I was able to place it on the dolly and then wheeled it off the trailer. I also purchsed a piece of 3/4" plywood to place on the trailers ramps. When I changed the cabs I was fortunate enough to have a friend with a 2 post lift.
Ok! So in case anyome cares i got the cab off the trailer! I had a single cab OBS and the crew super duty back to back, the regular cab OBS i just put a sling through the roof and off it came
the crew cab for my current super duty project i had to put a sling through the back roof with wood brace as shown above, and then a sling and shackles on the front two body mount brackets in the engine compartment. Came off great! Camera on phone wouldnt take that pic though no memory!
im now ready to start my super duty project in a month or so and the OBS f150/dana 44 solid axle/351w build after
