Does anyone know if it would be possible on a long-wheel base f150 (1983) to remove the bed AND regular cab and put a crew cab in its place? I saw a thread in 1999 about an f250 that did that and just made a flat bed (rather, they said that it was in a magazine from 1998).
Think this has been brought up before and IIRC the answer is no.
It is because the frame turns up just behind the cab.
So if you put a longer cab on a short frame the rear of the cab will hit the frame.

... and as soon as you say it can't be done someone will say they've done it and it works fine. But yes, Dave is right, that the frame turns up behind the cab.
To do it you either have to do about a 3" body lift (and body lifts are no where near as easy as they seem, and 3" is a LOT) or else you need to channel the body to let the frame come up through the floor (and then deal with the big holes in the floor and how to mount the seat).
So it can be done, but it's a BIG job, that would be hard to do well and easy to screw up.
