Is there a good reason why I shouldn't shorten my 2018 6.2's stock exahust pipe or have an exhaust shop weld on a dump just behind the rear axle? The exhaust is ugly on these things. I think it'd look much better out of view, at least on the tail end. When you lift the truck it hangs down even more visibly... Am I going to take a performance hit?

 

 

Nah, lifting doesn't move it just makes it more visible. I just happen to not like the "look" of the exhaust pipe on the gassers, even with a big fat chrome tip.

 

I had several trucks where I put a turn-down on the back of the muffler, exiting toward the ground just in front of the rear axle.

You can even go retro and do a side exit exhaust before the rear tire like the older F150's had.

 

Dumping them before the rear axle makes them pretty loud inside the cab.
