Working on some final items on my 73 parts into my 65, 390, C6, power steering, disc brakes, etc. In this process I also switched to the shorter steering column from the 73.
The rod linkage seems to be too long, when hooking it up in drive it will not go into park, if I try park (which I'm not sure it is it will not go into low.
My understanding is the lever on the transmission can not be clocked other than 180 degrees, was hoping it might be on splines but it's not..
Is there any year/model that has a shorter linkage?
Haven't found any after market adjustable rods, does anyone know of any?
Last resort is to cut and weld the existing rod.
Welcome any additional ideas.
Oh the kick down works just fine.
You are correct about the manual lever, it will only go in two ways, right or wrong. I wouldn't worry about cutting the shift rod if that's what it takes. I had to cut mine and flip it 180 to get clearance on my headers.
