87 2.9....need answers...

Ok here here we go.

87 Ranger XLT 2.9/5sp.

I was having issues with having no power, narrowed that down to a plugged solid EGR port, new valve, pressure sensor, all is well, code is gone.

Now...

Im also getting a memory code 18. Has to do with a grounded SPOUT and erratic/loss of tach signal to ECM.

I have changed Ignition module.
22k ohm resistor is resisting.

Truck runs pretty good but it idles rough. But smoothes out once throttle is applied. Its also loading up with fuel whenever i downshift to slow the truck, however, it only loads up if you completly take your foot off the acclerator. Even if you just toe it an 1/8 inch its fine.

Also, truck still feels a bit doggy untill you get it warm, shut it off, let it sit 10 min or so, then it runs like a raped ape untill it loads up on decleration.

No its not the FPR, that seems to be fine. IAC functions normally as well.

Could the distributor be behind this?

Im curious cause no ones given me an answer for why this happens, but when i do a KOER test warmed up my innova digital EEC IV reader says its a 4 cylinder. If i run the test cold it shows it as a 6. The truck DOES NOT load up when cold. The reader works flawless on my 460.

Could the PIP or something in the distributor be throwing all this stuff off? Supposdly the injectors are supposed to shut off under 0% throttle and over 1500RPM. But if the distributor isnt telling the ECM its over 1500 and not cutting fuel...

I dont know. Im a carb guy. But i need help with this.
