I'm looking (haven't seen it yet) at a real low mile '08 Sport 2wd Supercab. The sellers are in their 70s (no offense) (I'm 60, lol) but they aren't car/truck people.....
I have asked them is its a 3.0 or 4.0, they say its a 4.0...…...I'm also looking at the dealer brochure for the '08 models and I believe they are saying the 4.0 is standard in Supercabs…..
Can anyone confirm this? (I have no picture of the engine or the VIN to work with......
im about 99% sure that they could be had with 3.0 or 4.0s. I see listings online for 2008 extended cabs with 3.0s, but have no way to confirm they are correct listings.
I can confirm that it's very rare to have a regular cab with a 4.0L, that's rare, I do have one tho, I also can confirm that in 1999 there was a supercab with a 3.0L.
Since the sellers are in their 70's and most likely have been through several cars/trucks over the years, they should understand and know very well that prospective buyers motor vehicle will have questions that are answered by simply providing the requested information. Since your sellers apparently are incapable of popping the hood and looking at the label on the radiator core support for the information, ask them for the VIN and then you can run it through Ford ETIS after you open a (free) account and answer this and other build questions you may have.
*Tell them to get the VIN from either the door sticker or the registration, it's pretty simple.
I have asked them what engine it is and they say it is a 4.0.
I HAVE an '03 Edge with the 3.0 and am going to be upgrading to a newer Sport before the end of the year.
No offense, but I will not buy another 3.0, its just underpowered on the highway.....
I have both the '03 and also an '04 Edge with the 3.0...…
This is a very interesting deal in that they were selling the '08 Sport and had left the title in an other state, they have returned to THAT state for the summer and left the truck safely in their garage here.....I am in communication with them and have expressed the desire to be the first to see it when they return in November...…..
