Offset and backspacing will be different because the Escape is Front Wheel Drive. FWD cars tend to have a positive offset and RWD cars tend to have zero to negative offsets
Negative offset, or "deep dish" or "reverse" wheels will cause a front wheel drive vehicle to have more torque steer, and they generally make most vehicles a little to a lot more unstable, and in the event of a flat or blowout in the front, they are a hazard.
Positive offset wheels as seen on OEM front wheel drive vehicles generally cause no issues on a rear wheel drive vehicle, and behave better with a blowout.
Actually, I have an extra set of factory rims for my Escape which will eventually be getting sold and I was thinking about keeping them for the Ranger.
Actually, I have an extra set of factory rims for my Escape which will eventually be getting sold and I was thinking about keeping them for the Ranger.
Having blathered on above, I would make sure they will bolt up. The lug pattern is one thing. Suspension clearance etc is another. Good luck with it!
Also check to make sure the center hole of the escape rim is large enough to fit over the hub of the Ranger. I ran into this issue trying to put Ford Flex rims on my 2000 Ranger.
I ended up just going with American Racing AR899 16" to get the look I wanted and to open up my tire choices. Decent 15" tires that ride quiet are getting fewer and fewer these days.
They are both 16", both have the same bolt pattern and the center caps are the same. The next time that I have the front end of my Ranger jacked up, I will just try one for fit as was suggested.
