Regeneration question?
I bought my 17 250 6.7 used with about 13,000 miles on it. It's an XLT without a lot of options. I have put about 7,000 miles on it. I have done a lot of highway driving. I have started towing a 10,000+ lb trailer with it. It has never once regenerated that I know of. I don't have an option to manually regen as far as I can tell. Is this normal?

Ford has dumbed down the screens/gauges on the ‘17-‘18 diesel units where normally you do not know they are regenerating unless you happen to have the screen pulled up that shows current miles per gallons being used. My ‘18 will drop to 12 mpg. during a regeneration when on the Hiway.

When driving with no load the DPF will fill regularly and it will Regen as needed. You will use very little DEF fluid empty. When pulling you will use a lot more DEF but your DPF wont fill very fast at all. Mine did a regen about every 500 miles when pulling (guessing on miles). It will regen about every 100 miles when empty. You can use FORSCAN to turn on a DPF percent full gauge.

I have just over 4k on mine . I use an Edge CTS2 to moniter regens . I haven't towed anything so far and my commute is 23 miles at 55 - 65 mph . The Edge says that I am averaging 484 miled between regens . My $.02 .
