I'm going to guess that something is wrong.
If you want something more specific tell us more about your truck. What engine? How many miles? Any recent services? Does the light on the end of the shifter flash? Is it all shifts, or just certain ones?

It's a 5.4 engine...the transmission is a rebuilt with better than OEM parts and put on a dyno before being shipped to me. The shifting issues are in all gears...never seen a light on the shifter.

The OD OFF light on the end of the shifter will flash if transmission codes have been stored in the computer's memory. If you press the button on the end of the shifter the light should come on steady. Does it?
