Engine code help!

Hey guys and gals! Pulled motor out of truck today, have some questions about engine codes. Thought I’d hit up all the professionals!

Truck is a bit Frankensteinish. F150 chassis, f250 cab, exhaust manifold off a 1979 Ford Mustang II, etc. anyways, these little projects are always fun because you never know what you’ll find. Looks like the block was remanufactured at one point based off markings, hopefully someone can point me in the correct direction to determine how much I really want to tear this thing apart. Pulled motor to replace rear main seal initially, figured I’d just clean everything up real good while it was out as well, maybe some headers, who knows.

It's a 302 correct?

E=1980's
0=1980
A=full size Ford
E=engine

Not sure what D30 is.

My .02, the casting numbers on the motor mean nothing if the motor has been rebuilt.
And neither will tell you if it is worth it to do anything with the motor or not.
Did you do a compression or leak down test before you removed it? Guess you can still do a leak down test if you wanted to.
Could pull the oil pan and drop a rod & main bearing or 2 to see what the bearings look like. The bearings should have information on size & make of them.
A look at the bearings & crank should give a clue if the motor needs more tear down and work to make it good again.

did not do a compression test, truck was cheap and ran well for awhile after I bought it, literally just pulled motor out of curiousity. Planning on checking main bearing condition. Was really fascinated by the condition of block and discovering the “rebuilt” tag. But hey! That’s why this stuff is fun!
