Yesterday while driving along my truck died, no lights, splutter cough, or any other indication ...
was told could be the camshaft sensor, someone also said to take out IPR and see if oil is pumping if not change that...
I changed camshaft sensor nothing, checked IPR and no oil circulates and I have to order a replacement.. just looking for suggestions before towing to mechanic!
How do you diagnose that your IPR is not 'pumping oil'? Do you have a code scanner? If not your best bet would be to get one and see what your sensors are saying. There seem to be more bad mechanic stories than good, not many know our trucks very well and others are outright scammers, it can get expensive quick either way. You can get a blue tooth OBDII adapter if you have android device(s) or WIFI if you have i products. ForScan is cheap for i products and free for android. How is your oil level?
and was directed to take the icp sensor out and slightly crank over. If it has oil then it's good.. if not it's bad.
Yeah I'll stop you there before the oil geyser
You don't ever remove the ICP sensor and crank the engine unless you are 99.999% sure your hpop is dead.
However, you can unplug the ICP sensor's electrical pigtail and crank it. If the engine starts when it previously did not then you know the ICP sensor was bad.
If you did remove the ICP sensor and cranked the motor over and you do not have an oil geyser then your hpop is dead, but there's much better ways to find that out that won't require a full day of underhood cleaning
Just in case there is confusion on ICP/ IPR sensor locations

There is a lot of help in the links in my signature, but most of it involves having an OBDII adapter and an OBDII app to see what the PCM sees. There are conditions where the PCM will not allow the injectors to fire - and if this is the case, it sure would be nice to be let in on the secret.
Hey man, just had the same exact problem on my 7.3, trying to find what the problem is aswell. i replaced the CPS and same thing, nothing happened. i know your message was a few years ago, so im assuming youve gotten it fixed by now lol;. what was your problem??

@VinceTheRedneck09 Before you keep changing parts read the thread and do the suggestions people posted. Start simple like turn the key on and see if the WTS light comes on and if the fuel pump runs.
