Hi all, i just picked up a 1995 ambulance with a 7.3 powerstroke with 112k, that would only start with either, (i know i didnt do it previous onwer did) i have the WTS light...so i pulled the ICP and it started. So i hooked up the scanner and the HPOP reads 600 to 1400 psi... i think that is good, i think!...then it would not start again...i checked the oil and it was right at the add oil mark...i added a quart and it seems to be starting...my question is could that be the problem...just a 2 quarts low (still needs a quart) and the ICP (i know that sensor is bad, has oil in it)
These trucks will run six quarts low so that's not the problem. Unplugging the ICP, the PCM defaults to probably what your seeing which 'might' be normal, I think.
It would not start until i added the oil...which i thought was strange...this was sitting with no batteries for about 6 months before i got my hands on it so its not showing codes...maybe the IPR is on the way out too...i am going to throw a CPS, and ICP in it and see what happens...i may also do a oild change, it was done right before it went down...could it be the wrong oil?
mine after sitting for 3 months took a while to get oil pressure up, no oil pressure = no HPOP pressure
ICP when reading bad, will lower the pressure so that the injectors wont fire
if it truly would not start until you added in the quart, you might have an oil pick up tube leak and that wont be a fun repair so make sure you rule it out
