Help! What year is this?

The previous owner told me it was a 1967. The title claims 1967. The PO remembers an engine swap in 1969. The tag on the motor claims a 330 from '69.

This is the VIN, which states a 330HD motor from the factory... but what is the year of manufacture of the truck? F60DRB48175

What this boils down to is the oil dipstick indicates 3 quarts too high when I change the oil and filter and put in 9 quarts. Was there an oil capacity difference between the 330MD and 330HD engines?

Or is it more likely I have the wrong dipstick?

The PO claims it takes 6 quarts. Is that the FE engine capacity?

I'll need more information to determine WHAT 330 engine it is, FE, FTHD, FTMD...

But something is seriously amiss.

F60 = F600 (gas).

D = 330 2V H/D FT engine.

R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.

B48175 = 1967.

C4TZ-6750-C .. 330 2V M/D / 330 2V H/D / 361 2V / 391 4V FT Engine Oil Dipstick / Obsolete

23.22" shield to full; 24.23" shield to add; 25.95" shield to end.

1964/69 all except Tilt Cab; 1970 F500/750 before serial number E50,001.

So it IS a 1967 truck. I thank you! That gets THAT out of the way.

Now I will deal with WHAT engine they put in it.

But it was the same dipstick for HD versus MD. Hmmm...

I had to sign off, had a minor computer problem, so I couldn't type the following:

All 1964/78 FT's used the same oil pan except 1971/78 F600 4WD

Look on the dipstick for its stamped ID engineering number, post what it is. Number will include 6750.

The dipstick has no numbers.

But the measurements you give are exactly what I have when measured from the very "top" of the shield (where it would contact the tube).

And where are the engineering numbers on the harmonic balancer (I ran into your thread from 2012 telling a user that a positive way to ID a 330MD versus a 330HD was to get that balancer number)?

I looked on the ring face with a mirror (this truck has AC and an extra pulley extended off the balancer, so you can't see much), the rear of the balancer where the balancing cuts are, and, of course the circumference where the timing marks are. I cound't find anything but timing marks.

C4TZ-6312-A .. 330 2V H/D/361 2V/391 4V Double Sheave Harmonic Balancer - Marked: C4TE-6316-A / Obsolete

C4TZ-6312-F .. 330 2V M/D Double Sheave Harmonic Balancer - Marked: C4TE-6316-H or J / Obsolete

I don't recall where the mark is, but if this is an auto parts store replacement, it will not be marked w/a Ford ID engineering number.

And I'm beginning to wonder what engine this is at all. The PO had no idea... you saw the VIN... and even though there is a 330 tag under the distributor, the dipstick quandary makes me wonder if any of it is correct.

All I know is it's a rather large 8 cylinder Ford engine! HAA!

Or could it be that somebody put the wrong oil pan on it? It's the correct dipstick by your measurements. And it DOES seem to be an FT motor because it mounts to the crossmember on the timing cover.

Why is the 330 engine surrounded by so much insanity?

I'll check the casting numbers of the balancer and the crank dimension under that. Then I'll have to figure out why the correct dipstick indicates wrongly. It's either an FE motor, or the wrong pan. Or it could be space aliens.
