Chasing 1,000hp

Have a 97 f350 xlt long bed 4x4 dually, and saw that swamps diesel has that 900hp performance package, and was wondering what it would take to get to the solid 1,000hp mark.

found this thread that it is possible to do check it out:

1,000 HP 7.3 Power Stroke - Diesel Power Magazine

this guy slowly built up his horsepower in his 7.3 eventually getting it at 1,052 horsepower, as opposed to getting that 900hp performance package from swamps diesel then going from there, aside from that I haven't found much else for getting that last 100hp, if anyone knows of something or any ideas, leave your comments below, thanks.

Idk if I'm 100% right but if your wanting a daily 1000hp truck a HEUI system is not the way to go get a common rail start with the 6.4 and up had a buddy put 300 hp tune on his and pull like 680 ish in Wyoming and that at 6000 ft above sea level but I could be wrong. HEUI are stupid expensive too for like some compitcompe injectors 300 cc with 200% nozzles that's alot of $$$$$ and you'll have to build that engine like crazy the bottom end is good for like 400 hp depending on theiles too so keep that in mind just saying

Good to know, and just got word back and said to get that 1000hp goal from the 900hp performance package is to use nitrous, using a progressive 2 stage controller making sure the nitrous comes in at the higher rpms.

Thumbs up

I have never seen a stock turbos/stock fuel 6.4 make 680rwhp, turbos are just too small with that 65mm atmo. Mine did 570s on hot street with stock snails/stock fuel/stock block and ran 12.9 @ 105, race tunes have more fuel down low and a tad more timing. I have seen about 590 from those, but that truck has been gone for years and I am out of the loop on that stuff now.

Job 2, '09 truck, bought new, deleted at 9000 miles due to THREE regens on one tank. CCLB 4x4 Lariat, aftermarket PI converter made it launch like a ****. Best mod I did to it was that. Totaled by driver with no license and no insurance

FWIW, I was under the impression the stock 7.3 bottom end is good past 500rwhp with forged rods. Heads lift around 450ish.

A stock forged rod 7.3 bottom end can hold 650 hp with good tuning. Blowing a head gasket is rarely ever a problem on a stock bottom end 7.3, they tend to window the block before the head gasket blows. In fact I haven't seen one confirmed case of a 7.3 blowing a head gasket.

There are multiple set ups that have made 1000+hp in the 7.3 now. To be reliable it will have to have billet rods and a girdle minimum. Some think differently, but i feel like a filled block is necessary too.

Beyond the short block, how you make the power is up to you and how the engine is being used. Some have made 1000+ with stock heads, stock cam and others have done ported heads and a cam. Properly ported heads and the right cam will help make a bit more fuel only power and should lower the boost necessary to make a given power level.

Some fuel/air examples people have used. 300/200s, S467, and all the nitrous. Some have done 400/400s, 75mm+ single turbo, and nitrous. Some have done 400/400s, compound turbos, and still needed nitrous..

There's a few ways someone could go about hitting that 1000hp number. You'll need a lot of money no matter which way you go.
