Stock bottom end?

This is one thing i can't figure out. Why do some hold 600 while other blow at 400? All the blocks are made the same way, and out of the same material. Aren't they?

The same company that tunes our 500-700 hp powerstrokes.....
BTW my stock engine cracked with just a chip...so i know it wasnt tuning that caused it, i even had pmrs, so the rods would have gone out before the block.
