E&G Console Vault

E&G Console Vault installed. Website says it fits F150, no mention of F250. Took the plunge and bought one since the interiors are supposed to be the same. . It was a tight fit and did require trimming the back of the console where the tray sits. The original tray from the truck does not fit anymore, but that’s a small sacrifice to have all the open non locked portion of the console. Heavy duty safe with 3 digit combination and key back up. Mounts to a metal plate installed under the console using 4 screws. Feels extremely solid and secure.

Any chance you want to sell the original tray? I bought a used console and it didn't come with it. Didn't even realize one was missing...

I’m actually going to either trim the tray or the opening to make it fit. Just haven’t decided how I’m going to make it fit yet.

Pretty cool. I was looking at the full size Console Vault but had concerns of it's robustness. Would you say the E&G is pretty solid? Does it actually offer protection or just going to slow the guy down for 10 seconds? I concealed carry and don't ever leave home with out it, but can't always take it in certain places and looking for some kind of secure temp storage

Very solid. Shipping container said 20 lbs. I was surprised how heavy. Seems very solid when mounted with the base plate under the console using 4 bolts.

I assume it is the full depth of the center console? Hard to tell from the pics. What does it actually bolt to? Does it require you to remove the center console for install?

It is the full depth. You drill 4 holes in the bottom of the console. Remove the rear cup holder and rear panel. You do not have to remove the console. Then the metal plate with four nuts attached slides under the console. Bolt the vault down through the bottom of the console into the metal plate. Feels very secure.

Hi broncorif, thanks for this post. You have any pix or details on how much you had to trim on the console? Always been concerned about the other two main vault companies not having a solid bolt down system. Rather disappointing. Thanks for any other details.

You can’t really see where I trimmed. I had already installed the vault and couldn’t get it all the way down and didn’t want to pull it back out. I trimmed the ridge where the tray would normally sit. It’s behind the metal in this pic.

You could probably get away with trimming the metal on the vault before installing. That’s what I would do if I had to do another install. I don’t plan to ever remove the vault, so it doesn’t matter to me.
