My brake light fuse keeps blwing and I do not know what to do. I don't know where to start really. Could it be the "Brake ON/Off switch? Or a bad connection? I have almost given up...
You are going to have to trace the wiring, it is best to get a manual with a diagram and use a meter to determine were the short to ground is, the switch could be the cause.
I thknk that I have figured out that if I don't press firml on the brake pedal when starting the vehicle then the fuse blows to the brake lights. Does this help any? The fuse that keeps blowing is the "Brake Pedal Position Switch". -It is a 20 mini-fuse. I have rear lights and reverse lights, but not brake lights.
Hey,
I took my truck into a chevy dealership because they are the closest shop within a hour of myself. They installed a new Multi-funtion Switch because it was "fried." Now it is three days later and there is still the problem with the brake lights and the fuse blowing. They said the Brake Pedal Position Switch seemed fine. But that is the fuse that is still blowing. What should I do now?
I think I am going to go to a Ford shop just so they can look at it. There isn't a visible short, but the cruise control connects with the "Position Switch" and the cruise control runs directly into the main servo for the truck. So this leads to another list of problems. IS it the Brake line, or could it be from another source that originates with the cruise control?
I have noticed that it blows when I am driving along without operating anything (ex:Turn signals, brakes, cruise control), but at other times it seems to blow when I press on the brake pedal. It is a very annoying (and costly) problem that won't go away.
Thanks

Ken,
today I noticed that there were two wires running fron the loom in the rear end that seemed to go know where. So I followed them and noticed that they went under my bed liner, so...I took the bed linber apart and found two open ends that were the brake light and ground line to the unit. I pulled it out and thought that seemed to be to stupid to be true (if you know what I mean). I fixed the ends and the problem seems to have stopped. I thought it was odd that it started just a few weeks ago considering that I got this truck in May. Anyways, I'll keep watching.
