Rewiring advice needed

When searching for wiring harnesses for my 66 Econoline. What exists is a combination of original wires wrapped in decayed burlap, wires going nowhere, missing fusesI came across a few options which vary greatly in price.

First was the least expensive wiring upgrade kit from an ebay online store called Topendspeed. For $150, you get 24 circuits, 15 fuses (seems excessive) along with dimmer, headlight & ignition switches. Labeled, color coded - plug & play. No mention of an installation manual.

Second was a 8 circuit (more circuits available) harness from Kwik Wire for $270. It handles all necessary electrical systems including brake lights, horn, radio, heat, headlights, dome lights, fuel pump, radio, gauges, wipers, signals, hazards, back up lights, electric fan and coil. Seems to have it all covered. I also liked the detailed installation manual which you can check out beforehand on their website.

Finally, there's a $640 wiring kit from Dennis Carpenter. I'm guessing it must be same as came in the van for those restoring to original condition, which I'm not. It appears that the same kit is offered by a company by the name of American Autowire for the same price.

Anyone have experience with any of these, or maybe has other suggestions? Thanks.

I have no experience with any of these, but I've done lots of auto wiring. The kits mentioned seem to be universal replacements, so you get wire, a fuse panel and a bunch of crimp connectors. You've got to make them fit on the Ford component connectors which they don't usually do without splicing. Prepare for lots of soldering and shrink wrap tubing. Not a bad job, just a bit labor intensive. The original Ford wiring is a mess. I discovered last year that the wiper parking circuit is completely un-fused. Unless you consider a two-foot 16 gauge stranded wire to be the fuse, because that's what burnt up on me.
