My over drive light has been blinking the last 2 days and I can’t figure out why. It only comes on about half way to my drive to work but after I shut the truck off it doesn’t come back on the rest of the day. The truck runs fine and shifts good. What do you guys think it is I read something about maybe the vss but my speedometer works fine. Any simple things for me to try first before I take it in and spend a bunch of money. Thank you
There is a transmission code you need to have the codes read to figure out what the code is. You may have to go to the dealer or a independent shop to hav the codes read as some scanners don't have the ability to read transmission codes. On my last truck the scanner they had at advanced auto would red the trans code that I had but a lot of the scanners at the parts stores don't have the ability to read trans codes. So don't be dead set on just going to a parts store. There is a code get the code and report back and we can guide you in the right direction from there. Also please include the details about your truck in your next post that is important .
When it was new my '03 250 SD, reg cab, 5.4 had a blinking OD light, sometimes, sometimes not as I try to remember. It was under warranty and what they found was that there was a wire harness pinched between the chassis and the bed or the cab I don't remember. The problem never came back to this day.
