I have a 2002 super duty I bought to pull my camper with. It was a back lot special from a car lot that needs work. I have been going through the truck fixing everything that's bad.Started on manifold bolts and that was horrible but finally got all the broke studs out and fixed. Its the V-10 by the way. Next fixed the rusted off dipstick tube. And am on the front end ball joints and stuff but that's on another thread. When I got it the door locks just clicked like they try to lock and unlock but not enough power to do it. Its the same from both switches. Does this sound like bad actuators? Seen a thread on here about fixing the originals and thinking about trying that.
Use a multi-meter to measure the DC voltage at the actuator. If it is low, there is a voltage drop in the circuit and it is due to issues on the positive power supply side, an issue with the ground or excess current draw. If actuator DCV is low, use multi-meter to test high side and low side back to battery to determine which leg has the highest drop.
You may want to check the current draw of individual actuators to single out a bad actor and/or try disconnecting them one at a time to see if the others then function. Would provide the ground location to you, but do not have the '02 factory wire manual.. Good luck in getting your new-to-you truck up and going!
pretty common failure. There is a diy fix on the web showing how to disassemble and repair. You have to drill out rivets, bypass the internal shunt, and reassemble. I went with aftermarket replacements that were cheap but only lasted a few more years.
Did the diy fix and both work fine now.I am going to fix the passenger window while I have door panel off. it clicks when you push the button so I assume its the motor.
