3pt seat belt install

After some research I bough a set of these seat belts that other have used;
https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/WSCH256P.html

As expected the 12" buckle side is way short. Going to see if I can fab some metal extensions, or plan B is to buy some webbing and sew up a longer set myself.

The retractor is a tight fit between the seat and the door if the factory mount point is used. It would be better to relocate up where tank was, but my audio equipment is in the way. If anyone has a pic of how they got this to work well please share.

The B pillar in my 72 has the provisions for the upper mount, but they are not threaded. What is the best option here? Tap to 3/8-24 NF? Doesn't look like typical 7/16 seat belt bolt would work here. What was done in factory for the shoulder strap, self tap bolts?

Thanks,
Justin

My 68 has the thread in the “B” pillar. 3/8” 16. On my 67 Ford XL I extended the upper mount by getting the seat belt plastic sleeves from a “E” series van then using some chain inside the sleeve. The belts were cutting into our necks. The extensions worked out. I just purchased a 3 point set for my 68 F 100 from Juliano’s and will be installing them soon.
If you drop the head liner you can drop a plate with a nut welded on and a piece of wire or with some patience from the bottom up.

Got the belts installed. Made some retractor brackets from some angle. Just barely fit around speaker box. Tapped B pillar to 3/8.

The latch sides of the belts were 12" and too short. Extended them 7" with new material. Center lap belt latch side was too long so shorted it 7".

Definitely not a bolt in project but not too difficult.
Should keep my teeth off the steering wheel.

Nice job, you must have a pretty strong sewing machine to be able to stitch the belt material. Hopefully I will not have to do that.

I have an old 50s singer machine i use just for upholstery work. Kinda like these old trucks, durable, simple and gets the job done.
It kinda like TIG welding in that one should try on a scrap first...

Funny you should mention that. That happened to me when I was 16.
Your brackets look almost identical to the ones I made for my 1968. Except I stuffed the retractors in the B pillar's access holes as far as I could.

Yup, It's popular with the ladies though. Any longer and it wouldn't fit.

I checked the website you listed for the seat belts. I'm wondering if they could make custom lengths to order? They say call for details and I will and update you. If they did, I would requested the 12" buckle section extended to 17" or 18" and the center section on the latch side reduced 7"?
