Has anyone ever taken one apart? I'd be curious which bearing assembly it uses, I'd bet it's the same as used on the V8's, but possibly with a different shaft length. When I was looking to rebuild my V8 Car fan, I found that the cartridge bearing used in them is one that was used in tens of millions of water pumps, in many makes of cars, and in fact is still being used. You can buy a "universal" replacement that comes with extra-long shaft so it can be cut to fit. They cost $20 - $40 and have to be ordered from a bearing house.
If anyone has had one apart, I'd like to hear if it looks like this (universal bearing on bottom)

My water pump is on it's way to Cowboy John in Fla.. What does it take to remove the impeller? Heat and beat? Shop press? I'd be wary of cracking my pump housing.
Update! My pump came in the mail today! Looks great! two weeks port to port from Cowboy John in Fla.. Nicely painted, and a new gasket. Highly recommend His services. Fair price, nice work. Thanks for the recommendations folks.
Check out a recent thread here called 'Water Pump Kapput'. Scoll down a bit and you'll see it. It is talking about rebuild shops for the same pump you have.
I have a used one that is in decent shape that I'm willing to sell to a member if you choose not to rebuild yours.
