Does anyone happen to have a water pump for my 1948 F1 226 6cyl. for sale? Mine started leaking and has excessive play in the shaft. Is there a shop that rebuilds them?
Check out a recent thread here called 'Water Pump Kapput'. Scoll down a bit and you'll see it. It is talking about rebuild shops for the same pump you have.
I have a used one that is in decent shape that I'm willing to sell to a member if you choose not to rebuild yours.
Skip Haney has performed all my pump work on both the 6 and v8 and his work is impressive. All the pumps come back looking like new and turnaround time is minimal.
That's my "kapput" thread. Just took it off tonight, and it's a mess. I never got around to calling Egge today, so I'll do that tomorrow. C&G Ford parts also rebuilds them, too, but they're turnaround time is about 4 weeks.
I have some info in my thread, but wanted to provide it to you here, too:
Cowboy John = $125 + $14 USPS Priority Mail shipping to rebuild...and he has one in stock for exchange for the same price. He just needs your core. I'm going to have mine rebuilt to keep my engine as "original" as possible.
Egge = $161 + shipping, 1-2 week turnaround time on the rebuild
C&G = $195 + shipping, 3-4 week turnaround time on rebuild
You mean it's possible for them to actually graduate & get off the payroll!
Congratulations up there in Oklahoma! I've still got 2 in college .... going for the world
record in how long it takes to graduate.

I got new water pumps from Dennis Carpenter. I paid $125 for both. They have a new design that supposedly circulates water better. All I know is when the thermostats open and the water circulates it brings the temp down to normal levels in < 30 seconds. We'll see what happens in the hot summer, though it's not ever really hot in Colorado (compared to the south).
