As noted in the other water pump thread, got mine back from Cowboy John this week. Simply amazing work. Looks and feels brand new! For $125 + shipping,. you can't beat his service. I highly recommend you look into him first if you need something rebuilt on these old trucks (water pump, fuel pumps, etc).
Now to reinstall. Is there any trick to installing these? Seems straight forward, with no fancy o-rings to seat to cylinder heads. Looks like a simple bolt-on.
He gave me a gasket, so i was going to skip the RTV, maybe use some old school gasket shellac to hold it in place while I position the water pump. Unless you all recommend going with some RTV due to imperfections in the old cast iron parts.
