Why write when you can quote?! That’s not lazy it’s smart.
Thanks for sharing the excerpt SSJ. Very informative.
Of course I have tons more questions but I’ll hold them off since this is supposed to be a SXE thread and I’ve sorta side tracked here.

I am sorry you guys are having to explain this stuff to me as you’ve probably already went over it a million times before. But it is appreciated.

That's true. I am glad it came before parts got installed in the truck.

Today is first mockup day. Standby for pictures.

I am in love with that turbonator! Keep us updated on install and how it works. I may add that to my 364.5 soon if I can sneak it by the wife lol

@FordTruckNoob , as much as I encourage you to post pictures of your build here, I really feel you should have your own thread. Your build is unlike any other we have seen here on the FTE and deserves its own time in the limelight rather than being 1700 posts down from the first page of this thread. I would not want to take anything away from what your journey and documentation of said journey.

I had a good talk with Dusty H. today, most of the conversation was about reman vs new injectors, issues, and tuning. Also chatted about the 364.5 vs the 363. One of my thoughts aligns with his in that there would be minimal spool speed differences because they share the same larger turbine, instead he thinks the 364.5 with the smaller 68mm turbine may be the ticket for guys like myself with the autos wanting it to spool at a lower rpm. I like the larger turbine for how I drive my zf6 truck, but not so much on the auto. We are going to play with tuning more and see if that helps first. All in all I believe the lack of gears and how they are geared is affecting me the most due to the terrain I live in. I see a CA conversions kit and an Allison 1000 6 speed in the next year or 2.

I am also liking my ac's a lot, I have never run a 7.3 that runs smoother in my life!

@ESwift , I had that same thought this morning about the turbine while driving 3 hours north to NC. At this time, I am not willing to purchase an entirely new turbo, despite the fact that the turbine housing is a minimal cost difference. I am now leaning toward installing 160/0 new Alliant injectors this winter, or just fixing the o-ring leak and leaving the OEM injectors as they are until they crap out. They are still going strong and showing zero signs of giving up anytime soon.

I have a set of the enhanced o-rings that @FordTruckNoob found on the way to my house. Going to give those a shot and use some medium loctite on the pedestal hold down bolts. I suspect the bolts vibrated lose ever so slightly because there was no oil leak for the first 8 months or so of service including running up to PA and back towing the 5th wheel.

Your initial thoughts on the AC injectors is good to hear!

I certainly will. As Sous mentioned, I have probably reached the point where I need to start my own build thread.

There, I fixed it for you.

I was in my work neighbor's suite doing this. He has a bunch of CNC Bridgeports repurposed as laser engraving machines. This is his retirement "job". He used to run a machine shop.

Yup, you're right. I was too lazy at that point in the day to write up an essay laying out the background that led to this state of affairs so I figured I'd post the pictures as promised in here first. Working on the build/conversion thread now.

I would do my darndest to steer anyone away from remans if I had the chance. I have installed 26...yes 26 injectors (not including pulling the originals to do o rings) because I tried so hard to get remans to work. They never ran smooth. After years I finally bit the bullet and bought some brand new ones and it fixed all my problems. I know a lot of people say remans are fine, but it is just not work the headache and time I went through. Just spend the extra $$ and go new. The 26 is 2 full sets of remans plus 2 more because there were 2 with high perdels, after that didn't work 8 brand new ones went in. We also tried to fix the remans with tuning but that didn't work.
