Will a built 300 max out my tranny?

The torque is what you have to worry about, as that's how transmissions are rated.
I've heard lots of back and forth on the M5OD, some saying they're weak, others saying they've beat on them for 250k miles and never had an issue.
Their inherent issue is that the plugs in the shift cover are rubber, and they shrink and crack and leak fluid and then the transmission burns up. Easy fix with some brass plugs (have you done that?)
Unless you really go crazy, a built up 300 will probably have around 325 to 350tq.
I believe the stock rating was around 320 - 340, but have read where others have put a lot more through it. What really gets them is when you brutally apply that torque in a heavy rig, like stomping the gas off-road. I'm sure daily driving would be just fine.

How you treat it matters a lot. A stock 300 should have no problem destroying a ZF if you overload the truck, wind it up real good and dump the clutch on pavement a few times. There's a guy on Gofastbroncos who has an M5OD that's surviving in a prerunner that gets airborne regularly. This guy also split an NP435 with a bad landing.
