Tryn to finish a few minor issues, this one i need to ask about. I know about the 2 TOTX bolts but theyre set good. Found the black wheel to center the pointer. Question is, has anyone changed the aluminum tubing by doing this route? Any bones to throw for a different route..?
This is the video that I have watched a few times. I know there are other videos but I seem to be able to follow along best on this one. In my experience, I did not find the parts listed in your shot from the dealer for that price. Not even close. On a day when ebay was running a % off all purchases, I ordered an aftermarket set up that included these pieces for something like 24$. But I will tell you I would not recommend the one I ordered. It might be wonderful, have not installed it yet, but I purchased it under the assumption it was at least a Dorman product, which there have been a few positive comments about, but sadly it was not. I don't remember the seller name exactly, but it appears they deal their own items. Anyway, enough rambling about that. This video is at least worth watching and hopefully it will assist you. Good luck and please let us know the path you choose along with the outcome.
I ordered Ford OEM parts off ebay recently. Total spent was about $100 I'd say, but with 221k on her, the shifter is tight and the needle lines up perfectly. No slop, and it's a glorious thing. Do it right, do it once, or pay the price in time and money to do it over.
Great video and thanks for the part #s. I ordered the bushings and other two parts off Ebay, NewParts.com. All Motorcraft, 77.95. Got them in three days.
What is the reddish bushing in the post from afmedic? Do I need to get that before diving into this?

that bushing is what goes around the stalk where it goes into the column. On mine, there was no bushing left and that was the cause of my sloppy shifter. Once replaced it fixed my problem.
Hey guys..not driving her much, the thread got "lost". Appreciate the time and p/n put forth..👍. Goin off what papa mentioned, i find sometimes that she'll ride between P and R, when tryn to find P...not good.
Okay, thought I posted yesterday but guess not.
So, dove under the covers yesterday, looking for where the reddish bushing went. I never found it, nor did I find a listing for it searching Ford and other sites. Already had the tube and inner rod, so decided to keep going. Followed the video, no need to mess with steering wheel, air bags, etc. Loosened nuts holding column, let it hang down, plenty of room. Apparently my slop was from the tube/inner rod piece, as after replacing those and fresh grease shift lever has never been tighter (in the 7 years I have owned it). Nice.
Thanks for the video and part numbers.
Tom.
