When I bought my 85 6.9 it had/has the connecters for 1109 autolites I was gonna buy these https://www.accuratediesel.com/ford-7-3l-idi-glow-plug-connectors-set-of-8.html to do a quick fix by snippig off the 1109 conncters I was just wanting some advice thank you for the help in advance
Do you have a crimper? The cheapie crimpers you get in an electrical troubleshooting kit would work ok; however, a ratcheting style crimper is the way to go. This is the one I got from Jegs:
Don't forget that those connectors you linked are for the late style glowplugs. Motorcraft ZD9s or Autolite 1108s. The Autolite 1109 and Motorcraft ZD1 are for the early style glowplugs. Do you just want to change to the late style glowplugs? If you do make sure you ditch the Autolites and run ONLY Motorcraft or Berus. You run the chance of the tip swelling if you run cheapies.
I plan on completely changing to the late style glow plugs I have a list of things I'm changing this year glow plugs are #1 and I really appreciate the help and input
Switching to later style glowplugs and operation is a good move. I replaced the glowplug controller on my 86 6.9l and it's a PITA to get out of the head.
Oh it will be worth it tho I'm not dealing with winter the way it is now lol found a fuel leak gonna fix that and replace the cdr valve and not sure what else is on my list lol
