With the Andersen there are a few different things you can change for clearances etc. With my recent incident with the rails on my Retrax rails, it brought up several suggestions for using with the short box.
Reverse the adapter on the king pin
Reverse the actual Andersen base
Increase the ball height on the base
So how does everyone have theirs installed? Does reversing the base move the load forward of the axle? With nothing reversed I can do a 90 degree and am not worried about hitting the cab (that was with my Extang cover).

Thoughts?
Each of those "suggestions" are actually variances for installing or mounting the Andersen. With my short bed truck in signature I have zero problems getting to nearly 80+ degrees if needed. I have the coupler mounted to the pin with the ball for the Andersen closer to the front of the trailer and closer to the truck. I have the Andersen hitch installed with the ball closer to the tailgate of the truck and closer to the trailer. I have the ball height on the Andersen hitch set at the middle height.
I just reinstalled the hitch this morning after using the bed for a loud of furniture the other day. I carried the hitch about 50 yards with one hand and put it in my truck.
I too have an Extang cover and like it very much.
Reversing the mounting methods brings the trailer closer to the cab and can be utilized in any combination if you see fit or if you have a long bed truck.
I have my hitch with the ball towards the tailgate and the ball on the lowest setting since the '17 350 is tall in the rear. I have the funnel mounted with the ball behind the pin. This moves the trailer forward, and away from the bed rails in turns. I have a Roll n Lock bed cover and it clears the rails for that just fine in nearly 80* turns. I turn as tight is I want to torque the trailer suspension.
I just installed my AUH with the help of Sous (since I bought his fifth wheel) and towed my new fifth wheel yesterday for the first time. I have an 2018 F250 SRW CCSB, Like slapshot12, we installed mine with the king pin adapter backwards to move the fifth wheel forward a bit for more clearance with the side rails. When we measured the king pin box v. the side rails (per the instructions), it wasn't even close to enough room to consider mounting it the other way. We did put the ball up as high as possible but I have now lowered it to the middle setting. I may move it to the lowest position once I see what clearances I'm getting. I was able to get close to 90 degrees with a good foot and a half to spare.
Slapshot, what differences did you notice with the stance and/or towing with the ball in the different height positions?
I tried the middle setting when we picked up the 5er, and it was too high. I never even towed with it like that. Even in the lowest ball setting, my Momentum is still slightly nose high.
Steel rail AUH here. Ball on middle hole gives me just enough clearance to fit under my Bak Flip 2. Funnel mounted in front of the pin and no clearance issues to the bed rails or the back of the cab.
I had a lot of trouble with my Andersen, and their customer service. I had to return it and ended with a B&W Companion. The B&W is very well built and went right in, no issues.
Perhaps they have fallen from the top of the mountain. Each time I contacted Andersen they sent me what I was looking for at no cost to me.
1. I striped one of the allen bolts because the key I had was not long enough. They sent me 4 at no cost.
2. I had the original steel funnel design and when the polymer one came out I asked about buying it alone and they sent it to me at no cost.
I have contacted them twice since I bought mine a couple months ago and have had no issues. I bought the safety chain kit but did not order the correct one that included the base that goes under the hitch. They sent me one at no cost.
