I know there has been many threads about this but I cant seem to find the right answer. I have a 2002 superduty on the original plug it only had 3 wires (truck only has power windows) I bought the new style mirrors from A1. The plugs are the same and plugs right in but it dont work for the power. I am getting power to the plug and to the wires on the mirror. From what I have read Its using the same wires and should be working? Does it need a extra ground or something
The wire colors and connector may change, but those mirrors share basic similarities and the basic circuit is always the same. There are two (2) DC motors in each mirror which share a common connection, three (3) conductors to each mirror, no extra ground.
Diagram shown below, pretty simple to sort out using multi-meter.
You shouldn't need any extra wires for functions you had with your old mirrors. The original functions should work with the new mirrors without modification if they are plug and play. If you bought the one's for your year truck the OEM functions should work right out of the box. I had tow mirrors and bought the '03-'05 style mirrors with power, heat, and lights. I had power before (for the mirror) and that worked when I plugged the new mirrors in. I have to wire the heat and lights (still haven't done it) since my truck didn't have that.
I would call 1A and discuss the issue as your power should work when you plug it in (assuming you had power mirrors to begin with). I had two bad driver's mirrors during my purchase and had no problem getting warranty replacements until I got one that worked. Just my .02

They should work. Try plugging in your old mirrors again and see if they work, if they do then try the 1A Auto mirrors again. If they don't work, I'd contact 1A Auto about the problem. Good luck.

the mirrors on it were broke when I got it so I have no reference I called a1 and they said because my truck didn't have all the options they cant help me
I just changed a mirror on my truck yesterday. Just checking...you have your ignition on and your door panel switch panel is plugged in? You said you have power at the three wire plug, so I'm guessing that is when you are using your mirror switch, not without using the mirror switch. If you have power at the plug when you activate the switch then I think you have a bad mirror, but that seems unlikely.

ya it's when using the mirror switch and actually only have power to 2 the 3rd is a ground

In that case, does the ground wire test good? ie: it has continuity from the ground wire on the plug to a known good ground. If so, and both mirror motors are not working then I would check the ground circuit from the plug to the mirror motors. Or test it with a known good mirror.

looking at that wire diagram above, the third wire is NOT a ground. It is also going to be hot, but only when operating one of the motors, either down or right.

I get power when going up and down and left and right
