Hi all, I have a simple question that may be someone can answer. I have a 2012 F350 CCLB, I have a Kenwood DDX774BH radio and upgraded all the speakers to JBL. My question is can I add a amp to the stereo and factory subwoofer to give it a little extra kick. Nothing fancy, just want more power to listen to my classic rock. It would have to fit under or behind the back seat, space is a premium here. Thanks, jeff.
Easy to do. Probably worth buying a subbox as well if you want a decent sounding system. Ppi and nvx sell a very compact class D 5 channel amp that will easily fit under back seat and has tons of power. It was reviewed on the car stereo enthuists forum and got rave reviews. It’s design and components are shared with polk’s amp (that I have) but is considerably cheaper at $200. https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...SABEgIGHPD_BwE
I used a slimline 10” rockeford phosgate sub/enclosure that was equally as cheap and rocks. Considering everything you need, you can easily do this for under $500 total. The system will provide all the sound and bass youmwill ever need.
Awsome, thanks for the info Is this something I can tackle or should I take it to a shop? I use my truck everyday so time consideration would need to come in play. Thanks again.
Easy to do but probably take better part of a day. If you do some reading on others installs, it will go pretty quick. You need an amp, rca connectors from amp to deck, speaker wire from deck to under dash, and a set of high capacity power wires. There are a few amp wiring kits that come with most of what you need. NVX has a good one. Remember each amplified channel needs its own rca cord as well as speaker wire. I ran power wires down the left side sill plates and speaker wires/rca cords down the right sill plate so as to not get any humming.
