WTF were you thinking, Ford? A timing CHAIN driven water pump?!

Replaced chains, guides, tensioners , waterpump and crankshaft pin. Sounded ok at first, but rattling again.... changed oil twice with flush, thinking plugged up oil screen. Next getting tool to check oil pressure. It's got to be the main chain tensioner that is powered by the oil pressure. Don't want to tear this down again... parts from Cloyes, did I get a lemon tensioner?? Dirty oil screen, bad oil pump? No leaks anywhere... Man that timing cover will be hard to get off with all that great gasket sealer I used...
Yep, any constructive advice or ideas for further testing much appreciated before I have to crack it open again...
Not ready to give up, but man......what have I done wrong? chains were super tight.....

Did we replace the cam phasers too? Usually rattling type noises on engines equipped with variable cam timing is attributed to worn phasers. Even more so on higher mileage engines which have not had oil changes on schedule.

2013 Ford Police interceptor utility 3.7l 6cyl
chain skipped a link code p0016 and was running rough and chain rattling
cam phasers and sprockets looked good, the
main chain was a bit loose with some play.
The crankshaft pin was distorted pretty bad, so was replaced, but no damage to the shaft itself. Replaced chains, guides, tensioners, water pump
Ran good and quiet for 50 miles, then started acting up.
Of course, other than looking at the cam phasers and sprockets, I didn't test them.
Hindsight, probably should have replaced everything but figured the distorted/warn crankshaft pin knocked the timing out by a few degrees...

No bottom end problem, but replaced L bank 2 vvt solenoids, and noticed the main chain was slack between the waterpump and the L phaser bank 2. Other than defective tensioner, only 1 for this main chain, what other symptoms would cause the chain to have slack? Tensioner is on the lower R bank 1, but the slack is bank 2... with vehicle power off.
I would think the new tensioner just won't hold the oil pressure and even worse it would clack when revved up to 3500rpms then let of the gas. Thinking vlocked oil passage or bad tensioner. Interesting how it was fine for 50 miles then started to clack... could it still be a possible defective phaser cam sprocket?
