get ready to flame

hi lads,

flame away die hard entusiasts but im in Ireland so very expensive to import something as large as wheels from the us,im building my 55 f100 lb on air and want nice big rims to match.

Im considering Bmw x5 staggered wheels as i have fitted jag ifs/irs so am on chevy/bmw 5 x 120 pattern.X5 matchs the cb and one twin 5 spoke catchs my eye in 19" or 20".Alot lighter than 20" steelies id really like to and with the unsprung weight savings in jag suspension its a shame to add a ton back onto the corners.

Has anyone else fitted modern rims as im not sure how they will look and even the if the offset will work out, around 30/40 et depending on model

Hey Zag,
No flaming here.... Trying to restore one of these old trucks overseas can be a real challenge.
I've got an X5....but I'm having trouble imagining the wheels on your truck. We've got some photoshop
whizzes on here.. Asking for some photoshop help & you might get a sneak peak at what your truck would look like.

Good luck over there in Ireland! I've been to Limerick a lot for work.... nice country.

I tried photo shopping wheels in to see what they would look like for the same reason Zag. Can you guess what they are off?

They are off an early Mazda RX8 so 4.5 inch PCD. Downside is the 2 inch offset which is common on a lot of Japanese cars. Your BMW wheels may have a similar offset to that.

I don’t know what two inch back space is in modern measurement , X5 wheels are @ 37 which is fished out like a red so I’d have thought about right. Still fitting irs/ifs so can’t measure what ET I need get .

as you know most of the rest of the world moved on from measuring dinosaurs in feet and inches quite a while ago lol 😂

Wow bluey that’s really tasty

could I be really cheeky and ask you to drop the truck onto the running boards as it’s going on air and the new style wheels are 20” on low profiles as opposed to 15” at present

Tks in advance

You don't have to worry about flaming on this board. We are all a bunch of friendly folks and can appreciate anyone trying to breathe life back into these old trucks.
You gotta use what you have, especially if you are separated from cheap parts sources by a huge puddle of water....LOL

Go for it!

Yep, there's two kinds of countries - those who walked on the Moon 50 years ago, and those who use the metric system.

Hi Zag, I am with you trying to find a certain wheel that looks right to me. I like the stock wheels, hubcaps and trim rings but am not a fan of the 15” wheel as it looks too small in the fender for my liking and too much tire sidewall. Once you price the larger 17” stock style wheels offered by Wheel Vintique they cost more than a lot of alloy wheels.

For a stock wheel I do like the Mustang Bullit style 17” diameter and they are the right bolt pattern for me as I switched to 5x4 1/2 Ford car pattern.

I like the BMW wheels and some others so I say go with what suits you. I think you will get more support than you think.

I think you'd be happier with one of these mate. Save you rounding heads with your metric tools
