USB Port Charge Speed

Are the 2 USB ports in the center console sliding area supposed to be fast charge? I plug in my Galaxy S7 Edge doesn't fast charge on them. Anything I need to do to activate it? I know it's not the cable because I use the same cable with a cigarette lighter charger and it charges fast with it.

I don't know the technical specifications, but the port seems to charge pretty fast for my iPhone. At least faster than my home charger.

When I bought my truck the dealer told me the built-in USB's are slow charge, and that matches my experience. I use a 12V adaptor to charge the phone, much faster.

When I looked online I kept seeing USB smart charging. Never could tell if it was in the SD's.

That's what I started doing. I have it in the center console and coming out the little pass thru. If that's what I have to do I'd like to have a hole in the side of the console and place my phone in the little area on the side of the console. Make it easier to get in the console that way but I hate to drill thru the console. Worried what might be in the way.
