Motor mount question

Hey guys I was wondering about the two outside holes in the front engine mount of my 292. The reason I'm asking is because the holes like up perfectly in my crossmenber and the bolts for like a glove. But I also noticed that the drawing of the mount from the books is using the center hole and don't think there is enough room between the pulley and the hole when the center bolt goes threw. It's a 1956 f100 with a 292 out of 64 f100 i believe.

Seeing as no one has come along yet, let me take a shot. I do not know exactly how a pickup front mount is assembled but it is the same design/method as a 55-57 BIRD. The two outer cap screws secure the mount itself and main support/alignment is provided by the center fastener.

See ILL attached.

Maybe NUMBER DUMMY can provide the correct ILL.

Howdy,

I looked at my 48-55 Chassis parts and accy catalog and it's pretty clear that the outer bolts connect the front mount to the rubber mount below but do not go all the way into the cross member.

The only bolt holding the (6038) "insulator" to the cross member (5057) below is the center bolt
The outer bolts secure the Bracket (Engine Front Support, #6028)

There's only one bolt holding the front of the engine to the crossmember so the engine can rock (and roll) from the torque.

Now, My illustration is for a 55 but I don't believe it changed much from 55 to 56.

here's a picture!

Cheers,

Rick

The mounts at the bellhousing will prevent it from "rolling."
