Oil slinger

I picked up a 292 to put in my truck while my block is out being bored for a rebuild. I have the oil pan off and I can see that there is no oil slinger on the crank behind the timing cover. Will this cause an oil leak around the crank even though there is a seal in the housing itself?

I don't know that it will cause a leak but it does help to keep oil away from that area. Stuff like that often shows up on eBay. Check there. Also check with the usual vintage Ford parts suppliers. One may have it.

Thanks for the feedback Charley. I actually have 2 sitting on my shelf. I just hate having to pull the timing cover after buttoning up the rest of the engine. I had to put my truck pan on, so I just happened to look in at the crank. I'm hopng to fire it up by Friday so I can drive to the big truck show in Ashland on Saturday. The machininst called and said the block and crank will be ready next week. So this engine hopefully runs a couple weeks without giving me a headache!!
