O.K. I'm back again Margret, I am currently working on a 2wd. to 4wd. conversion to my 95 f-150. I have been looking for a ttb d44. I posted on tennessee off road web site yesterday that I had a 302(points) for sale or trade for either a ttb d44 or a standard shift tranny and transfer case combo. I got a reply back from a fella that has a "4spd. with a 208" on it. With just guessing, Which for speed would/could this be? He said it came out of an 82 pickemup. 4x4 of course. Would any one think this tranny would be a good swap? would this tranny transfer case combo be worth using? would This tranny bolt to My 300I-6 if it is a small block bell housing? My clutch pedal system is Hydraulic, wAS THE 4SPD's in this era rod or slave? Can one be converted from rod to slave? I'll try to contact him and get more info. The only 4spd's I know might have been in a 82 f-150 would be either a t-18 or a np435. Any help with this would be helpful.
It is probably the NP435 or the T170 RUG (but could be a T19) in the '82 model. And it probably is an NP208 xfer case. The tranny will fit the engine with the right bell housing, but as far as hydro clutch modification I can't say. But I do know that the '82 had a "Z" bracket (manual operated) clutch.
