do you have the ability now to have mobile app's show in your screen of the truck, from your phone?
I did initially after updating to Sync 3.0, but now I have no app functionality. Have used both Ford Pass and Pandora previously, but last two days I've had no luck. Looks like it is confirmed on a non-Nav truck already. Could be a fault of my iPhone not being up to date...but I'm hesitant to upgrade due to an older iPhone (the SE).
I'm not sure I would call it "buggy" but when using waze, it is certainly a little more laggy than either the OEM nav, CarPlay, or Waze on my phone. It does work however, and solves one of the main complaints I had using Apple Maps in CarPlay, which was you could not see the exterior temp (minor I know.)
These are my complaints thus far
I wish it would still show the map when you are on the actual home screen instead of the white box that just says Waze
When using the Waze app, the navigation is not centered on the page but is off to the far right with the next turn displayed on a single line toward the left. This would make some sense if it was displaying turn-by-turn, but it only shows the next turn.
The map never expands to full screen like the OEM so your main controls along the bottom are always visible. It would be nice if it followed the OEM style and went actual full screen to show more map.
When touching the map, it is sloooooow.
The formatting of the app looks pretty rushed. It just doesn't flow well on the Sync screen.
Let us turn the display off to our phone without freezing the app. Currently if you lock your iPhone, waze stays on the truck display but basically freezes until you unlock the phone.
Many of the issues above can, and hopefully will, be corrected via future updates. Overall, I'm still happy I have the option as that is better than not having it at all.
I've been trying to get Waze to work on my truck for a couple days now. However, since I actually like the Sync Navigation, and especially after reading this, it looks like I'm going to try to actively avoid making it work on my truck.
Ford now claims that Sygic is a SYNC 3- and iOS compatible app, so I may go with it. It looks like it's ~$35 (w/ lifetime maps), but TomTom no longer supports my old nav device, so this may be a good all-in-one solution.
The display options include elevation (a feature I really like), and there's an optional night-time HUD feature as well.
FYI - I navigated the 43 mile trek (1 hour commute) home from work this evening and it worked fine in the sense nothing locked up either on the Sync or phone. The actual app just needs some work. The layout isn't great, and the menus are obviously not well thought out (example, where you actually enter/search for addresses.) I am not a big fan of the fact that 1/3 of the screen is not map and is consumed by both the OEM task bar, and the Waze bar and do not ever auto-hide.
I'm not seeing Waze show as a Ford Sync App with my iPhone 6S. Am I doing something wrong? I have the most up-to-date version of Waze, I have disabled CarPlay, but the only Sync app I see show up on my display is the Ford Pass app. Thoughts?

Same here. Made it all the way to work without issue. Cant lock the phone like others are saying or it pauses/freezes/doesnt update - whatever you want to call it.

I assume you are running the latest version of Sync as well? If so, have you tried restarting your phone after updating Waze? That did the trick for me.
It works just fine in my truck. I have to plug in my phone to run it, but it does work. I do NOT have the WAZE icon on my screen so it is probably running through AA, but I can still listen to Sirius and have WAZE running, which I couldn't do before. It does take a few seconds to get it to boot up first thing, but no lag or crashing during my 45 minute one way commute. (Sync 3 updated via thumb drive last week and using Samsung Galaxy 7)

Thanks. I tried it last night and although it worked via AppLink with Sync 3, I was not all that impressed. After nearly flawless experiences with TomTom over the past nine years or so, I may just get another TomTom product. The one I have is fine (and highly customized), but its memory is limited to 2 GB and won't hold future maps.
