I updated my sync this past weekend and used Waze yesterday. Very buggy in my opinion. Kept locking up on my screen. Everytime I would press play on my music it would lock Waze up, then I would have to kill the Waze app on my phone and restart it.
I have 3.0 and the newest version of Waze on my iPhone - but no Waze on my screen. Doesn't pop up, nothing. I am not running the newest OS on my phone though...for the record Ford Pass doesn't work anymore either but who's really surprised at this point.

Ford Pass is working for me on my iPhone and iPad and i`m running the latest iOS update which is 11.3

I have Latest update on phone, Waze and sync and doesn’t pop up on dash screen at all.
Sounds like I will just stick with my tried and true Garmin. Got tired of being locked out of the navigation while I was driving, even with a passenger it won't let you input an address.
I really like using Waze on my phone, however I get so frustrated dealing with lagging or buggy software. I think I'll wait for you guys to work through all the kinks and get it running smoothly before I start using it through SYNC.
Works... as in, the waze map is on your 8 in screen?
yes, after the reboot of my phone, waze shows up just like in the picture of the original person here posted. It takes over the NAV button on the truck screen. I did not see any buggy behavior but I did not drive with it very long.

I'm not sure I would call it "buggy" but when using waze, it is certainly a little more laggy than either the OEM nav, CarPlay, or Waze on my phone. It does work however, and solves one of the main complaints I had using Apple Maps in CarPlay, which was you could not see the exterior temp (minor I know.)
These are my complaints thus far
I wish it would still show the map when you are on the actual home screen instead of the white box that just says Waze
When using the Waze app, the navigation is not centered on the page but is off to the far right with the next turn displayed on a single line toward the left. This would make some sense if it was displaying turn-by-turn, but it only shows the next turn.
The map never expands to full screen like the OEM so your main controls along the bottom are always visible. It would be nice if it followed the OEM style and went actual full screen to show more map.
When touching the map, it is sloooooow.
The formatting of the app looks pretty rushed. It just doesn't flow well on the Sync screen.
Let us turn the display off to our phone without freezing the app. Currently if you lock your iPhone, waze stays on the truck display but basically freezes until you unlock the phone.
Many of the issues above can, and hopefully will, be corrected via future updates. Overall, I'm still happy I have the option as that is better than not having it at all.
Here's a big question - is this designed to work on a truck without factory Nav? I see folks saying it "replaced the factory Nav" but if I don't have it, is it going to show up on my normally 4-button menu bar? Hmmm

easiest way to find out is to try it and let us know

Well it isn't working for me but I am unsure as to whether that's an issue with non-nav trucks or a lack of being on the most current version of ios11! We will all have to keep feeding each other info as we learn.

do you have the ability now to have mobile app's show in your screen of the truck, from your phone?

Im not sure about that. In the 30 minute drive this morning the app crashed twice while hooked up to Sync 3, the audio worked for 1 turn and couldn't lock my phone once. If thats not the definition of buggy I don't know what is. It certainly isn't a feature.*
Waze updated and is working! Driving now but it’s there!
Thanks for the heads up!
My iPhone 8+ (a recent upgrade from my 3-1/2 year old 5S) is running iOS 11.3, and I updated to Waze v4.37 in the last day or two. With the iPhone plugged in via USB and Waze running on the phone, the Sync 3 v3.0 update recognizes the mobile app (our XLT is non-OEM nav, BTW). It seems to (sort of) work, although the interface doesn't appear to be particularly intuitive IMHO.
Need to go do more research (whatever the modern version of RTFM might be ), and then experiment a bit more, including playing with settings in the app.
